Earn money by generating your own electricity
On 1 April 2010, the Feed-In Tariffs (FITs) scheme launched in the UK. The scheme is designed to reward people who invest in clean energy through a cashback scheme.
The payments are issued through the cashback scheme by the major energy providers to households and communities who are generating their own electricity. This electricity can be generated from renewable or low carbon sources such as ground source heating systems, air source heating systems and solar panel technology.
The scheme pays guarantees a minimum payment amount for all electricity generated as well as another payment for any surplus that is exported to the national grid. The payments issued are over and above cost savings made by using a more economical heating and power generation system.
Once a heating and power generation system has been installed, provided your home is suitably prepared and insulated, there should be a reduction in monthly electricity bills. Combine this saving with the extra income from the cash back scheme and it makes it a very attractive proposition.
